Arm Trap Roll, Side Takedown Roll, Knee Roll & Oshima Roll

Beginners are taught basic hold-downs but they are usually not taught how to get into a hold-down until much later. Here are four basic hold-downs any beginner should learn.

a) Arm Trap Roll (into Ura-Gatame or Ushiro-Kesa-Gatame)
b) Side Takedown roll (into Yoko-Shiho-Gatame)
c) Knee Roll into Kami-Shiho-Gatame
d) Oshima Roll (into Yoko-Shiho-Gatame or Mune-Gatame)
