A standard tomoe-nage has tori throwing uke by falling straight in a sacrificing motion. It doesn't matter where uke is thrown (to the back or to the side), it is still tomoe-nage (and not yoko-tomoe-nage) if tori falls backwards. The yoko, in yoko-tomoe-nage refers to where tori falls not where uke lands.
